Giving Victims A Voice

Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry participates in the Trident United Way's annual Day of Caring by promoting the "Giving Victims A Voice" program.

Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry coordinates with local Law Enforcement agencies to identify unsolved crimes in which the possibility of an arrest being generated has been diminished.

Volunteers and Board Members canvass areas specific to these unsolved crimes, going door to door with pamphlets detailing the crime in the hope that renewed interest may be the only means of giving the victim a voice.

What is the Day of Caring?

The Day of Caring allows hundreds of  local individuals to obtain some hands on experience as a volunteer with a local nonprofit organization.

Volunteers from corporations, labor groups, law firms, TV stations, non-profit organizations and other community businesses participate in  projects which include reading to children, repairing and painting houses and refurbishing agencies.

The primary goals of the Day of Caring are to:

  • Allow contributors to see where their money goes.

  • Demonstrate how agency programs are affecting people's lives.

  • Demonstrate how volunteering can make a positive impact on community problems.

  • Position the United Way through positive and proactive media coverage as more than just a fund-raiser but a mobilizer of people and resources.
